Blackjack: The Object Of The Game

December 20th, 2008

The main object in any game of blackjack is to have the cards in your hand reach a total that is higher than the dealer’s without going over 21. Keep in mind that even if there are other players at the blackjack table, you are still essentially competing against the dealer.

With regard to card values, each of the numbered cards with a value of 10 and lower, are taken at face value, which means that their value is the same as the number on the card. The Jacks, Queens, and Kings on the other hand all have a value of 10. This results in a greater number of cards with a value of 10 than any other cards in the blackjack deck. There is one other card in the deck and that is the Ace. This card hold a special place in blackjack since its value can be counted as either 1 or 11, depending on what will be most beneficial to your hand.
